How often should a stern drive be serviced?
Most manufacturers recommend gear oil and an inspection at least once a year, with bellows checked regularly. Your owner's manual has the exact schedule for your drive.
What does milky gear oil mean?
Usually water has gotten past a seal. The drive should be inspected and the seals replaced before the gears are damaged.
